About Seals
Heat-resistant seals keep heat, smoke, liquid and gas where they belong. This category bundles four solutions: fiberglass rope for doors and grooves, gland packing for pumps and valves, ePTFE sealing tape for flange joints and fire-resistant ceramic band for the highest demands.
Choosing the right seal
Sealing the door or glass of a stove, oven or boiler? Choose fiberglass rope in the profile that matches the groove. Does a shaft turn through the seal, as in pumps and valves, then gland packing is the right product. For flat flange joints and lids use the self-adhesive Uniflexon ePTFE tape, and where fire resistance up to 1100 °C is required, the self-adhesive ceramic band.
Applications
The seals are used in the automotive industry, construction, shipping and general industry, and at home mainly on wood and pellet stoves. There a well-closing rope ensures the right combustion airflow, less smoke development and higher heat output. In industry the packings and tapes keep flanges, pumps, oven doors and flue gas ducts sealed under high temperatures and chemical exposure.
Frequently asked questions
Which seal do I use for my stove?
Stove rope: round rope for the door groove, flat self-adhesive rope for the glass. Measure the groove and choose the rope about 2 mm thicker; this is how you measure.
Up to what temperature are the seals resistant?
From 120 °C for the lightest gland packings up to 1100 °C for basalt rope and ceramic band; the matching adhesives and pastes go up to 1260 °C. The class is listed on every product.
Is there a food-safe seal?
Yes, the gland packing of pure PTFE is available as a food-safe version, suitable for applications in the food industry.
