About Fire-resistant sealants
Fire-resistant ceramic band seals seams and gaps where ordinary seals give up: around ovens, stoves, flue ducts and other constructions that get extremely hot. The self-adhesive band of asbestos-free silicate fibres withstands up to 1100 °C.
Application and fitting
Use the band for fire-resistant sealing of seams, gaps and connections on ovens, stoves, boilers and flue gas ducts. Fitting works like self-adhesive rope: clean and degrease the surface, peel off the liner and press the band on evenly. For door grooves with the highest temperature demands there is also basalt rope up to 1100 °C; for glueing and filling seams the Insulmould fibre paste up to 1260 °C.
Frequently asked questions
Up to what temperature are fire-resistant seals resistant?
Up to 1100 °C. The fire-resistant ceramic band is self-adhesive, made of asbestos-free silicate fibres and available in 10 and 20 mm wide (4 to 5 mm thick) on rolls of 10 metres.
Is the band safe to work with?
Yes, the band is made of asbestos-free silicate fibres. As with any fibre material, work in a ventilated space and cut the band to size with a sharp knife or scissors.
Does the adhesive layer keep working at high temperature?
The adhesive layer is a fitting aid that positions the band; after that the clamping of the construction keeps the band in place. The silicate band itself withstands up to 1100 °C.
