About Reflection Mats
Reflective mats combine an insulating fiberglass core with a reflective aluminium top layer: insulating and reflecting in one mat, applied directly to hot surfaces or surfaces to be protected.
Applications
In vehicles the mats protect engine compartments (batteries, cables, hoses), floors and transmission tunnels, and bulkheads; this is how you insulate an exhaust tunnel. In industry they form a thermal barrier around ovens, boiler rooms and machine enclosures, and in the maritime sector they protect engine rooms and installations. The mats are easy to cut to size, damp sound as an added benefit, and come with or without a self-adhesive layer. For thin foil without an insulation core see reflective foil.
Frequently asked questions
Up to what temperature are reflective mats resistant?
Contact heat up to 760 °C and radiant heat up to 950 °C, depending on the product. The range includes THERMO BLOCK fiberglass mats (4 to 12 mm, also self-adhesive and on rolls up to 30 m) and DEI Floor & Tunnel Shield II.
What materials are reflective mats made of?
Aluminium combined with fiberglass or basalt fibre, also in self-adhesive versions. The THERMO BLOCK mats have an aluminium top layer that reflects up to 95% of radiant heat.
Which mat thickness should I choose?
The thicker the fiberglass core, the greater the insulating power: 4 mm for flat shielding with little space, 7 to 12 mm where noticeable insulation and sound damping are desired besides reflection.
