About Fiberglass rope square
Square fiberglass rope is a heat-resistant sealing rope with a rectangular profile. It fills rectangular grooves in doors and lids of ovens, boilers and wood and pellet stoves and keeps the seal intact up to 550 °C.
When to choose the square profile
Choose square rope when the groove is rectangular: the profile fills the corners completely and therefore seals better than a round rope in a rectangular groove. Typical spots are doors and lids of industrial ovens and boilers, inspection hatches and stove doors. For grooves with a round profile choose round rope, for flat seams and glass panels flat, self-adhesive rope. Fit the rope with heat-resistant adhesive; the replacement guide shows how.
Frequently asked questions
Which size of square rope do I need?
Measure the width of the groove with callipers and choose the rope about 2 mm thicker, so it seals under light pressure. Sizes run from 4 x 4 mm to 35 x 35 mm; this is how you measure the right thickness.
Up to what temperature is square fiberglass rope resistant?
Up to 550 °C, just like the round and flat fiberglass versions. The exact specifications are listed on each product.
Can I use square rope in a round groove?
We advise against it: the profile does not fill a round groove evenly, so the door closes unevenly. Choose the profile that matches the groove shape.
