About Fiberglass cord flat
Flat fiberglass rope is a self-adhesive, heat-resistant sealing tape for flat seams. It seals stove glass, door frames and joints without glue: peel off the liner, press on, done.
Applications of flat rope
Flat rope is the standard for sealing stove glass and flat door seams, and in industry for oven doors, heating systems, heat recovery installations, inspection hatches and fire-resistant constructions. It also absorbs thermal expansion in seams of flue gas and exhaust systems. Thanks to the adhesive layer, fitting is fast and emission-free. For grooves and door profiles choose round rope, for rectangular grooves square rope; repair kits are in flat stove rope repair kits.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fit self-adhesive flat rope?
Remove the old rope and any glue residue, degrease the surface, peel off the liner and press the rope on evenly without stretching it. The replacement guide shows the steps.
Does the adhesive layer withstand the heat?
The polyacrylate adhesive is a fitting aid: it keeps the rope in place while the door closes, after which the clamping does the work. The rope itself withstands up to 550 °C, HD versions up to 1100 °C. The adhesive is free of solvents and halogens.
Which width do I need?
Measure the seam or the old rope: sizes run from 5 x 2 mm to 20 x 4 mm. Choose the width equal to the seam and the thickness slightly larger, so the rope seals under light pressure.
