About Damping plates
Anti-drumming sheets are heavy, visco-elastic, self-adhesive sheets that absorb vibrations and resonance in thin metal or plastic panels. They form the first layer of any sound insulation: on panels, doors, floor, roof, boot and tailgate.
What anti-drumming delivers
The sheets damp resonating panels, rattling interior parts and driving noises, and thereby also improve the sound of fitted speakers. The extra weight in doors, for example, also gives a nicer, more solid close. Combine the sheets with acoustic foam as a second layer for the full effect; the build-up is in the ultimate guide to sound and vibration damping.
Frequently asked questions
What is sound deadening material?
A heavy, visco-elastic material that absorbs vibrations and resonance in thin metal or plastic panels. Read more in the ultimate guide to sound and vibration damping.
Do I have to cover the entire panel?
No: with 60% coverage or more an optimal result is often already achieved, because the material damps the panel's resonance once enough mass has been added.
How do I fit anti-drumming sheets?
The sheets are self-adhesive and stay flexible even on irregular surfaces. Press them on firmly with a metal application roller from this collection for full adhesion to metal or wood.
