About Thermal insulation
Thermal insulation limits heat transfer: it protects components, saves energy and keeps engine bays, machines and workplaces at temperature. This is the main category with our complete heat-resistant range, from self-adhesive foil to insulation blanket for 1200 °C.
From foil to blanket
For radiant heat choose reflective foil or reflective mats; for exhausts exhaust wrap and stainless steel ties. Around hoses and cables the silicone insulation sleeve and cable protection do the work. For surfaces and enclosures there are heat shields, heat-resistant fabrics and insulation blankets up to 1200 °C, and for fixing and finishing heat-resistant tapes.
How to choose the right insulation
First determine whether the heat arrives by direct contact or by radiation, and what temperature the surface reaches: every product lists its maximum direct heat and radiant heat. Then choose the form that suits the part: wrapping (wrap, sleeve), sticking (foil, tape, self-adhesive shield) or lining (mat, blanket, fabric). Practical examples are in our blogs, such as which reflective foil to choose when and insulating exhaust tunnels.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between direct heat and radiant heat?
Direct heat is contact heat: the material touches the hot surface. Radiant heat arrives at a distance, like the glow of an exhaust on a plastic part. Reflective foils repel radiation up to 1600 °C, while contact materials are rated up to 1250 °C; both values are listed per product.
Does thermal insulation also help against noise?
Several materials damp noise as well as heat, such as felt and foam. For targeted damping of vibrations and noise there is the separate sound insulation category.
Can I have insulation custom-made?
Yes, via custom work we supply heat-resistant foil and covers made to measure, based on your drawing or sample.
