About Exhaust insulation
Exhaust wrap keeps the heat inside the exhaust, where it belongs. That protects heat-sensitive parts, lowers the temperature in the engine bay and gives motorcycles and classics the characteristic wrapped look. This collection holds exhaust wrap in several temperature classes plus stainless steel ties for fitting.
Why wrap an exhaust
Wrapping the exhaust keeps the heat in the system: the engine bay and heat-sensitive components stay cooler and the air intake temperature drops, which counters power loss from hot intake air. The wrap also protects against corrosion and gives a tight, streamlined look that is popular on cafe racers, bobbers and choppers. All benefits and the method are in Exhaust wrap: application, benefits and installation.
Fitting
Wrap the band around the pipe with a constant overlap and secure the ends with stainless steel ties; this video shows how to fit the ball-lock ties easily. Practical examples: the AJP PR7 travel motorcycle and the Doosan DL550 loader.
Frequently asked questions
Which temperature class of exhaust wrap do I need?
For most cars and motorcycles basalt wrap up to 800 °C is sufficient; Titanium™ wrap up to 950 °C is the choice for sporty use or tight, hot spaces. The class is stated in every product title.
Which vehicles can exhaust wrap be used on?
On almost anything with an exhaust: cars, motorcycles, boats, agricultural vehicles and industrial machines. The wrap withstands vibrations and weather.
How do I secure the wrap?
With stainless steel ties of SS304 or SS316, available in 300 and 350 mm. They clamp the wrap without screws or welding and can be fitted with ordinary pliers; watch the fitting video.
